The government’s Philippine Agricultural Development and Commercial Corp announced that they would be conducting a roadshow in the United States in order to attract companies that can bring in Cellulosic Bioethanol production to the Philippines.

According to them they received word from the United States Department of Agriculture that the technology is ready for commercial applications. (This I got to see!)

Cellulosic Bioethanol production is said to be the Holy Grail of Bioethanol production because it removes the need to cultivate feedstock since it can use left over wood, grasses, and other non-edible parts of plants as feed stock. And by this, feedstock for fuel will no longer have to compete as much with land being used for food production. This is by harvesting the ethanol from the cellular structure of these materials.
