The government’s National Power Corp (Napocor) announced that Korea Electric Power Corp (Kepco) and a French firm expressed interest in building a 600 MW nuclear power plant for the Philippine government in Bataan. Kepco recently submitted their findings on the feasibility of rehabilitating the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) from its moth-balled state.
A bill was submitted to congress to rehabilitate the controversial Bataan Nuclear Power Plant that met stiff opposition from various sectors.
According to Napocor, because of the geography of the Philippines a Nuclear power plant generating 600 MW would be the most suitable for the country.
