Sugar Cane EthanolBasic Petroleum is targeting their 200,000 li/day distillery to start producing by 2009, once their Zambo Norte BioEnergy Corp goes on line. Ideally, if permitting weren’t an issue and other regulatory requirements won’t be stalled, you would be able to get a distillery up and running in a years time. With distillery construction running tandem with the feedstock planting and harvest scheduling.

The bigger the capacity, the more you would have to spend in planting as much hectarage/day in order to meet your requirement. On average you can get about 5900 li/ha for sugarcane based ethanol. So in order to meet the 200,000 li/day you would have to plant about 34 ha/day (assume 100% yield) as well as harvest the same amount.

In a press statement made by Philippine Energy Minister Rafael Lotilla, he said that the option for the Philippines to dabble in Nuclear Energy as a source of Electricity is still 15 years down the road. As this is the time needed to train experts to study the viability of using Nuclear Power.

hydroimage.jpgSlated to be finished by December 2010, the 3 hydro projects are located in Virac Catanduanes. The 5 sites are expected to generate about 8.6 MW at a cost of about P500M.

The 5 sites identified to comprise the 3 hydro projects are:

Solong River in San Miguel (2,300 kilowatts); Hitoma Lower Cascade in Obi, Caramoran (1,500 KW); Hitoma Upper Cascade, Obi, Caramoran (1,575 KW); Pagsangahan, San Miguel (2,100 KW); and, Hinipaan Upper Cascade in Salvacion, Bagamanoc (1,200 KW).

The 2007 CSR Expo will be held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel on July 16~18 in Pasay City. This was announced during a “Walk the Talk” activity with some of the CEO’s of top corporations in the Philippines. They wanted to convey the message to the public that top corporations in the Philippines were trying to do their part to address the climate crisis and other environment issues.
