Are Gasoline Stations Still a good investment?Was on our way home one day on the odd occasion that our son was picked up from school. In between that 10 kilometer Jeepney ride between his school and our home I noticed that there were 9 gasoline stations already plying their trade.

10 years ago, if I’m remembering this correctly, there were only about 5 gasoline stations offering up fuel to the long distance travellers heading to some far off province.

Sen. Recto pushes for passage of Alternative Fuel Vehicles BillSenate Bill 2856 sponsored by Senator Ralph Recto calls for fiscal incentives to be given by the government to importers, manufacturers and users of Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFV). In his sponsorship speech he pointed out the irony that Alternative Fuel Vehicles were much more expensive to buy than traditional fossil fuel powered vehicles. Which could be attributed to the high cost of the technology because of the low adoption rate (because of its high selling price) and because of the taxes imposed on the said vehicles which does not differentiate between traditional vehicles and AFV’s.

AFV’s were defined as those being powered by non-traditional fossil fuel sources such as electricity, natural gas, etc or those using hybrid technology which uses both electricity and gasoline to run.

The LPG shortage had put the Department of Energy in the hot seat. With DOE Secretary Angelo Reyes being the proverbial Lightning Rod. As with any crisis, the concerned sectors will partake in the time honored tradition of playing the “Blame Game”

Officials of the City of Navotas announced that they have allocated P1 million tricycle driver loan program so that they can purchase conversion kits for their motorcycles to run on LPG instead of gasoline. The local government of Navotas did this so as to help boost the profit margin of their tricycle driver constituents and to protect the environment.

Two days from now on the 27th of November, Davao City will play host to the Philippine Auto-LPG Summit. The summit venue is the Waterfront Insular Hotel and will start at 8 AM and end at 5PM.

The one day event aims to impart to the concerned individuals and groups the mandatory standards required in the Auto-LPG industry. These specifically governing the automotive LPG cylinders, dispensing stations requirements and procedures as well as registration requirements of vehicles using automotive LPG.
