Phil-Korean Renewable Energy Corp will start building next month a 30MW Biomass plant in Palawan Island that that will use waste wood chips from an 30,000 hectare Ipil-Ipil and Coconut plantation as feedstock. The project is estimated to cost $71.3 Million and will be finished in two years.

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) approved the contract of Bioethanol producer San Carlos Bioenergy Inc (SCBI) to supply their excess electricity to VMC Rural Electric Services Cooperative Inc. (VRESCO).

The contract allows SCBI to supply VRESCO their 2.4 ~4.8 MW of excess electricity from their cogeneration plant.

Ecoenerhiya's 10 MW Biomass plant in QuezonLocal firm Ecoenerhiya announced that they will put up a 10 MW biomass project in Quezon with a price tag of $36 Million (P1.7 Billion) under Unisan Biogen. 70% of the project will be financed through loans while the rest will be from equity. They are currently approaching Banco de Oro to finance their project. Construction is expected to begin by May 2010 and to be completed by June the following year. They have already signed a supply agreement with the Quezon Electric Cooperative for the energy produced by the plant

Bronzeoak Ltd to build power plants to complement their distilleriesBronzeoak Philippines, a subsidiary of Bronzeoak Ltd of the UK, announced that they were building two power plants to power their bioethanol distillery in the Bukidnon and Tarlac. Both projects are expected to cost about $100 Million and will deliver 15MW of power each. They will work in tandem with a 40 million li/year ethanol processing plant.

The power plants would be specifically located at Kibawe, South Bukidnon and in Capas, Tarlac. Construction is expected to begin by the middle of 2010.

Global Biomass PLC Corp. (GBC), a UK based company, has signed a 25 year contract to supply three power plants with biomass. GBC will harvest the biomass from farm waste. Specifically corn, rice straw, sugar cane and other farm residues.

According to a recent report. Global Green Power, a UK based company, had already broken ground on their Biomass power plants in Panay last May. Grace Yeneza, compliance director of Global Green Power, said that it will be an investment worth $40 million for each plant.

The company is planning to put up three biomass power plants in Panay, Nueva Ecija and Pangasinan. This will come at a total cost of P5.6 billion, a company official said. The three power plants will have a combined capacity of 15 megawatts. Previous reports had the company saying that they would be setting up five power plants in the provinces of Panay, Samar, Nueva Ecija and Pangasinan.
