Google's Belgium data centers operates with natural coolingI’ve always admired Google for being serious in reducing their energy consumption, specifically in their data centers. Which we could say is the life blood of their business because it houses the data and algorithms of their search and money making online applications.

One special data center to take note of is the one located in Belgium. That’s because it operates on natural cooling alone due to the natural cool climate of Belgium.

First time I saw this i was blown away by the simplicity of the design. The Watercone offers a safe and cheap way to produce drinkable water from salt water and other brackish water by using the rays of the sun and the property of water to evaporate once it hits 100′C.

Aside from not needing electricity, you don’t have to keep careful watch over it too while it does its work. Areas without potable water and electricity could use this simple product to produce drinking water.

Aboitiz Energy Solutions to provide energy saving solutionsHow often do you see an Energy company that has a subsidiary whose main purpose is to save energy? Well its kinda like shooting yourself in the foot, but I have to commend the Aboitiz Group for having that kind of business.

Aboitiz Energy Solutions recently announced that they have tied up with an American firm, Davies Energy Systems Inc, to provide energy-efficient solutions to private companies and local government units.

SM Malls receive energy efficiency award for energy conservationThe Don Emilio Abello Awards for Energy Efficiency were recently awarded to SM City North EDSA, SM City Sucat, SM City Sta. Mesa and SM City Manila. While the SM Mall of Asia was the Philippine Entry to the ASEAN Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices for Buildings contest. Their energy saving practices resulted in over P38M worth of savings for the malls.
