Subic Wind Power Generation Inc. (SWPGI) recently announced that they will alot $125 million to expand further their renewable energy project at the Subic Freeport. Their plan is that on top of the announced 50MW 25 turbine wind farm will be the establishment of a 100~200 MW Solar Farm.
The project will be done at Mount Sta. Rita and Redondo Peninsula which will encompass about 300 hectares of land. It is projected to employ about 150 workers for its operation.

A study for Smart Communications by Ericsson pointed out 25% in savings if the company uses Renewable Energy to power its cell sites. This in effect is a 50% savings in the company’s operating expenses as well as 60% of the total power consumption of the communications giant.
Chinese Ambassador Liu Jianchao said that China was looking to invest in the renewable energy sector of the Philippines. Primarily in geothermal, wind and solar energy. They were looking for joint venture opportunities in the emerging renewable energy industry.
