Bangui Windfarm of Ilocos NorteA few days ago I did a post on the Bangui Wind Farm at Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. And just as if on cue, news came out that the Wind Farm’s expansion to 33 MW capacity will be finished by August 2008 this year. Some great news indeed from the Northwind Power Development Corp, who own the windfarms.

My Good Friend, Abaniko, went up to Ilocos Norte in the Philippines and was able to get shots of the famed electricity generating windmills there.

So that’s how a halved 40 MW Windmill farm looks like? *snicker*

Wind Mill
A picture of my son fascinated with the miniature wind mills situated around a butterfly park. My wife mentioned that he was more interested in them than with the colorful butterflies floating around them.

Call it childlike curiosity but I hope that this will spark an interest in him which is similar to the interest that his old man has with alternative and renewable energy sources. That way I have somebody to pass on this blog to. But hey, an interest in energy conservation is enough for me to begin with *snicker*

80px-flag_of_the_philippinessvg.pngThe Department of Energy announced that they are planning to revise the investment package offered to potential wind farm operators in the country. Based from what I’ve seen, they seem to be more inclined to seek foreign investors to build wind farms rather than get local companies. This is because they’ve said that the main drawback to investors is the constitutional provision that prevents foreign ownership of properties in the Philippines. I doubt it if they can change that, they need a Constitutional Assembly to change that or a 3/4 vote by Congress[source].
